This piece began with a moment of inspiration.

Stacy hand-picked the Ocean Jasper stones herself, selecting each oval for its color pattern, surface quality, and energetic resonance. When she held them together, she immediately saw the cascade. Three stones, three stories, descending in a horizontal fall that would move with the body and catch the eye from across a room.

She then hand-crocheted the necklace rope using 2mm faceted round Labradorite beads, selecting each one for its flash and surface quality. The rope measures 18 inches in length and approximately 1/4 of an inch in diameter, a refined, fluid width that drapes beautifully and moves with every breath.

Jack custom-forged a sterling silver dual-wall decorative bezel around each of the three Ocean Jasper ovals, building each setting by hand to fit the exact dimensions of its stone. All three pendants were brush-polished to a matte finish, a deliberate choice that softens the silver and draws the eye toward the extraordinary color and pattern of the Ocean Jasper itself. The three pendants cascade horizontally, measuring 3.5 inches total, and hang from the Labradorite rope in a graduated fall that is as architectural as it is organic.

The necklace closes with a sterling silver hammered square toggle, a handcrafted detail that completes the piece with the same intentionality with which it was begun.

About the Gemstones

Labradorite is a member of the feldspar family whose signature optical phenomenon, called labradorescence, produces a spectacular play of blue, gold, green, and violet light that appears to move beneath the stone's surface as the angle of light changes. This effect is produced by the interference of light between twinned layers of feldspar within the crystal structure, and no two labradorite stones produce it in the same way.

The finest Labradorite comes from Labrador, Canada, where the stone was first discovered in 1770, as well as from Madagascar, Finland, and Russia. Faceted Labradorite, as used in this necklace, is cut to maximize light interaction across each bead's surface, creating a rope that shimmers and shifts with every movement.

Ocean Jasper is one of the rarest and most visually extraordinary jaspers in the world. It is found in only one location on Earth: the remote northwestern coast of Madagascar, where it can only be collected at low tide because the deposit is otherwise submerged beneath the Indian Ocean. Each stone is a unique composition of orbicular patterns, concentric circles, and flowing color fields in combinations of green, cream, white, yellow, pink, and teal, never exactly repeated.

Labradorite registers 6 to 6.5 on the Mohs hardness scale. Ocean Jasper registers 6.5 to 7. Both deserve thoughtful, gentle care.

Store this necklace separately from harder stones and metals to protect the surface of the Labradorite beads and the Ocean Jasper pendants. Keep away from water, perfume, hairspray, and chemical products. After wearing, wipe gently with a soft, dry cloth.

Avoid ultrasonic cleaners entirely, as they can damage both the crocheted cord and the pendant settings.

The sterling silver hammered toggle clasp and the brush-polished bezels will develop a natural patina over time. This is not damage. It is character.
