Care Instructions for Your Air Plants

Your air plants are living beings and deserve consistent, loving care. Follow these simple guidelines to keep them thriving:

Light: Place your air plants in bright, indirect light. A sunny windowsill or well-lit room is ideal. Avoid placing them in dark corners where they will struggle to photosynthesize.

Watering: Mist thoroughly or fully submerge your air plants in water once per week. When misting, saturate the leaves completely — a light spritz is not enough.

After Watering — This Step is Essential: After every watering, gently shake your air plants upside down to remove any excess water that may have collected at the base of the leaves. Allowing water to pool at the base is the number one cause of rot in air plants. Always allow your plants to dry fully — upside down is best — before returning them to their display arrangement.

Fertilizing: Feed your air plants once per month using a Tillandsia-specific fertilizer. This gives them the nutrients they need to grow, bloom, and thrive in the long term.

Water Quality Matters: Please use dechlorinated tap water, rainwater, or pond water to keep your plants happy and healthy. Do not use well water, as the mineral content can be harmful. Do not use distilled water — distilled water has been stripped of the natural nutrients that air plants need to survive.

A Note on Your Gemstones: When watering your air plants, take care not to saturate the gemstones. While most crystals can tolerate brief contact with water, prolonged exposure may affect their surface or energetic integrity. Simply remove the air plant to water it, allow it to dry fully, and return it to its place among the stones.
