Rhodochrosite is a manganese carbonate mineral. In its purest form, it is typically a rose-red color, but most often its common inclusions can cause beautiful shades of pink to pale brown. which makes it so prized. It streaks white, and its Hardness varies between 3.5 and 4. Rhodochrosite crystallizes in a trigonometrical system, and very often Chrystal twinning is present. It is often found in Silver mines, in Argentina and Romania, and grows in stalactite or crystal formations. These samples are slices from stalactites. One of our absolute favorite stones.
