Prasiolite (also called Vermarine, Green Amethyst or Greened Amethyst) is a green form or amethyst. The name "prasiolite" is derived from two Greek words: prason, which means "leek;" and lithos, which means "stone. Green amethyst is a bit of a misnomer as Amethyst is defined as the purple form of quartz. The correct name is Prasiolite. Prasiolite is caused when Amethyst is heated, either naturally by a lava flow or by man, turning the purple into green! Like all quartz stones, Prasiolite is a strong grounding stone. Prasiolite is often used when doing inner healing work, especially in the areas of heart issues, forgiveness, etc.
