Sardonyx is a mostly Brown, orange and white-colored variety of banded onyx, which is a form of chalcedony quartz. Without the Banding, it would be considered Carnelian
Sardonyx is the secondary birthstone for August, next to Peridot.
Used as a stone of strength and protection since ancient times, sardonyx is associated with courage, happiness and clear communication. Sardonyx brings lasting happiness and stability to marriage and relationships. The spiritual values of red and white-banded and red bullseye sardonyx make these stones particularly powerful.
