Butter Jade, also known as Butterstone or African Jade, is a stone that used to be called Stromatolite. This rock is from southern Africa and was formed during the Archean Period, making it over 2 1/2 billion years old! In Africa, butter stone is used to soothe the heart, bring peaceful sleep, and warm the sense of calm.
Microfossils in the form of blue-green algae have been found in fine stripes and may represent the beginnings of life on Earth. They contain a history of our origins.
