Black Spinel necklace with Dendrictic Opal, Black Tie jewelry

$220.00

This stunning necklace began with some amazing genuine gemstone quality faceted black spinel stones that Stacy hand picked strand by strand from the manufacturer. Stacy then strung all the gemstone on incredibly study stainless steel wire and completed the necklace with a silver toggle. While sourcing the spinel, we were gravitated towards this stunning piece of dendrictic opal stone, cut into a perfectly smooth oval. if you look closely at the stone you can imagine a rolling hills, a jagged mountain with a clouds above and Butterflies flying by. We can imagine sitting out watching the butterflies flying by. (OK maybe we have a vivid imagination, but lets go with it!) So with that imagination in mind, Jack cut a sturdy piece of sterling silver, and bezel set the stone into the silver, with a decorative beaded surround, and made into a pendant. The bail on the pendant moves laterally, to allow movement of the pendant, drawing attention to it. Jack took this amazing pendant, and added it to Stacy's creation, the single strand 5mm faceted cut spinel gemstone necklace. Wow. What a stunning pair they make. (the necklace and pendant, but also Jack and Stacy!) The necklace measures 17 inches long, but then the dendrictic opal pendant hangs another 1.5" so it wears like a 18.5" necklace. This necklace is a one of a kind and will not be replicated. A must have piece for your collection, or to give to someone special.

The back of the pendant has a cut out of the silver for a little hidden surprise, to remind you of those butterflies! You can see the back of the stone through the butterfly cutout!

This opal variety is termed "dendritic" due to its internal collection of dendrites. Dendrites are fern-like inclusions of iron, manganese, or other metallic oxides that create bold patterns within the gem, and give it its cool features! As you might guess, these stones are all one-of-a-kinds, as no two dendritic patterns are exactly the same.

The shine from spinel looks just like black diamonds. In ancient times, southeast Asia was known for exceptional spinel mines. This spinel became the treasured jewelry of kings and queens. However over the years spinel was forgotten. Increasing demand for ruby alternatives brought spinel back to the forefront in America, when Spinel was recently added as an August birthstone, sharing this month with peridot and sardonyx. It has long been mistaken for ruby by emperors and monarchs. Many of the famous “rubies” written about in the history books are actually spinel.

►Metaphysical Properties:

Dendritic Opal can be used healing the past and bringing harmony to the present. It balances masculine and feminine energies, conscious and subconscious, intellect and intuition. Dendritic opal is also known as Merlinite. It often is used to connect you to magic. (hence the name merlinite)

Black Spinel gemstones are said to be power stones that support strength and renewal and are said to have strong healing properties for the whole body.
