Fossil Salamander Plate

This is a Fossil Salamander Plate, Salamandra sp. Jurassic, Germany

This specimen measures approximately 3.5" x 3.5" at the widest parts. it is an imperfect square shape, about the sixe of a drink coaster

The fossil dragonfly alamandra sp. is recognizable by the large and outstretched arms and the structure of its spine, which are very clearly shown in this awesome specimen.  This 150 million year old tile is cut from a dark slate stone, originating in Germany. This "negative" fossil salamander is black on a dark background, but quite visible. The overall preservation of this piece is great with the ams and legs of the lizard outstretched and very well detailed. It looks as if the creature is actively crawling across the ground!
